Four room types, 249 rooms, and very few details

River Cree's Stay page calls the hotel a full-service property with 249 guest rooms, including 11 luxury suites. Travel Alberta and Indigenous Tourism Alberta both describe all 249 as non-smoking. Under "View Our Rooms" the resort lists four types, each shown as a video clip and nothing more.

What every room has, according to the resort

The amenity list on the Stay page applies to the hotel as a whole, not to a single room type, so we read it as the floor for every room. Three pages contribute to it:

• Listed on the Stay page: air conditioning, alarm clock, bathtub, cable TV, coffee maker, complimentary parking, desk, in-room hair dryer, high-speed internet, in-room movies, microwave, mini fridge, radio, shower, telephone.
• Hotel overview adds: ergonomic workspaces, complimentary Wi-Fi, and microwaves, mini fridges and Keurig coffee makers in all rooms.
• Travel Alberta adds: premium bedding and flat-screen TVs that can cast from Netflix.
• Also on the Stay page: 24/7 in-room dining, the pool and whirlpool, the fitness centre.

Notice what is missing. There is no square footage for any room, no mention of a view, no floor plan, no maximum occupancy and no statement about rollaway beds or cribs. The resort has not published the number of storeys in the existing hotel either.

Names you may see elsewhere

Trip.com sells room types called "Executive 2 Queen" and "2 Queens City View High Floor". Neither name appears on the resort's own site. If you book through a travel agency and see one of them, ask the agency what it maps to in the hotel's own list before you pay.

The Bed & Breakfast Package

The only room offer on the Stay page when we read it was a Bed & Breakfast Package: one night's accommodation and one full breakfast per guest per night at The Kitchen or Tap 25. The resort prints no price and asks you to call 1-844-425-2733 or use its Book Now button for the terms. Breakfast at Tap 25 starts at 5 am, at The Kitchen at 7 am — useful if you are heading out to the airport early.

A discount the resort advertises

River Cree's free Players Club membership, which needs government photo ID to join, is described as giving 15% off the best available hotel rate, with the card shown at check-in. We mention it because it is a room-rate fact the resort prints; this paper does not recommend joining a casino loyalty scheme to anyone who would not otherwise hold one.

Rooms that are coming

The expansion adds a new hotel tower. STAY Magazine quoted the resort's CEO, Vik Mahajan, in September 2024: the new bathrooms "will all have a walk-in shower and a bathtub". Room counts vary between reports — 230 rooms and more than 30 luxury suites in STAY, 240 rooms in CDC Gaming and GlobalData. Opening is reported for July 2027 by CDC Gaming and for the fourth quarter of 2027 by GlobalData. None of these rooms can be booked as of our reading.

Questions to put to the desk

1. How big is the room, and what floor is it on?
2. Does it face the parking lots, the highway side or the construction?
3. Can a rollaway or crib be added, and is there a charge?
4. Is the room near the elevators or the casino entrance?
5. For accessible rooms: roll-in shower or tub, bed height, door width?
6. Is the Bed & Breakfast Package available on my nights?
