Self-exclusion in Alberta
Alberta's self-exclusion programme applies to every casino and racing entertainment centre in the province — you cannot exclude yourself from one venue only — and can also cover regulated online play. Terms are six months, one, two or three years, and an agreement cannot be cancelled before it expires. Enrolment is online and needs details exactly as on government ID, with a photograph.
The age rule
No one under 18 may enter a casino in Alberta. River Cree checks ID for anyone who appears to be under 30, and its shows are 18+. Since July 2024 children may use the resort's restaurants, rinks and community events with an adult, never the gaming areas.
Keeping control
- Decide a budget before you go in and treat it as the price of the evening.
- Set a time limit; the casino is open 24 hours and has no natural closing time to stop you.
- Do not gamble to win back losses, to pay bills or when you have been drinking.
- Gambling is not a way to make money.
Fake online offers
River Cree has warned about fake social-media ads that use its name to promote online gaming. The resort says it offers no online gaming and does not ask for card details for it. If you see one, do not click it.
